Index Industrial Design Consultants is a successor firm of Index Industrial Design & Development, founded in 1983 in the Hudson Valley, one hour north of New York City. Principal Andre' Grasso brings more than 40 years of knowledge and expertise in designing and developing products for companies across a broad range of industries to clients seeking to turn their own design concepts into successful products. Grasso is a graduate of Pratt Institute who holds Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master in Industrial Design degrees. His work is driven by creative problem solving, an in-depth understanding of the design and development process, and an appreciation for the realities of cost and manufacturing.

Approach
We believe that successful design can only be achieved through a rigorous, consistent, well-documented process that employs appropriate skills, knowledge, capabilities and tools, from concept through engineering and development to final production. We have learned that clients often assume that once they sign off on a design that looks good and appears to meet functional requirements it will be developed as conceived, on time, and on budget. The fact is, not all companies have design directors who are familiar with all the stages of the development and manufacturing process. Too often, failure to understand the total picture and critically assess inputs at all the key points along the way can derail a successful result. Index Industrial Design Consultants provides the overview, critical skills, and knowledge of suppliers, vendors, materials and production processes that help clients achieve a final product that meets expectations.

We review budgets against expectations, product attributes against vendor capabilities, material attributes against supplier strengths. We review drawings and prototypes, identify problems, recommend solutions, and help you set up the documentation required to ensure that all of your team members and third-party partners are working to consistent, up-to-date information. We share our in-depth knowledge about a wide network of material vendors and service suppliers to help you choose the best partners for your project. |

Facilities
Index Industrial Design Consultants’ company-owned 10,000-sq.ft facility includes administrative offices, a complete model-making shop, a prototype/assembly area and multiple conference rooms. We welcome clients to our facilities for design reviews and meetings to facilitate a seamless development process from prototype to manufacture.
